Madras Art Guild 2020 - Launch - 24th January 2020

The second edition of #MadrasArtGuild was launched on January 24th, 2020, in the presence of Mrs. Karin Stoll, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chennai, Sid Yog, Founder and Chairman,Virtuous Retail, Sumi Gupta, several senior artists, along with cultural ambassadors and key members of Chennai’s art community. The evening commenced with the unveiling of VR Art Car re-imagined by Artist and Documentary film-maker Gita Hudson by Mrs Karin Stoll. After this, she viewed the installations and sculptures around the Centre. Further to this, Mrs Stoll lit the ceremonial lamp at #MadrasHouse along with Sid Yog, Sumi Gupta, Upasana Asrani and Natasha Soni. This was followed by an exclusive viewing of artworks by Benitha Perciyal, Seema Kohli, Parvathi Nayar, Yuvan Bothysathuvar, Tapasya Gupta, Vijayalakshmi Veerappan, Michael Wegener, Shirin Watwani, Suresh Kumar P., Yuvraj Velu, Shiffali Wadhwan, Kaveri Zachariah, M. Karthik SS, Niloufer Seth, Siddharth and Upasana Asrani at the Fine Art Room. The inaugural evening ended with a #WearableArt #FashionShow by students of #NIFTChennai, featuring exceptional material, extravagant styling and exuberant accessories, at #SkydeckChennai. The public #art festival, which will extend until 23rd February, is showcasing over 50 installations and works of fine art by established and emerging artists, all on the theme of #sustainability. It also features an impressive line-up of events such as an Art Competition for children in association with Murugappa Group and Global Art, an Art Bazaar that is bringing together artisans from across India, Art Cinema, Art Workshops, Basement Art Project and LBB's Dessert Bazaar.
