The sonorous sound of a bell is meant to announce arrival, attracting all that is good and driving away all evil within onself. All entries in VR Chennai have installations inspired from a bell crafted from different elements.
Embellished with the Dasavataram figurines the bell pays homage to the legendary forms of Lord Vishnu that can also be found dotted throughout the centre.
Weighing over 400 kg, and over 3m (10 ft) in height and diameter, this exquisite work of art has been handcrafted at Kalarings Art Studio in Bengaluru.
The bell is suspended over 6m (18 ft) in the double height atrium.
The concept of the bell has been given a unique twist inside the Kannadi Gopuram.
Conceptualised and conceived by Klove Studio, this multi-tiered installation is an inspired arrangement of hand blown glass baubles of different shapes and designs.
Sized at 8m X 4m (24 ft X12 ft) and draping down to over 7m (22 ft), this installation promises to be a focal point at VR Chennai.
The Gopuram gets its name from its distinctive adornment of wooden bells, crafted by artisans at VA Wood ‘n Design.
Here you will find over 150 hand lathed bells that have been carved from responsibly sourced wood.
